As technology increasingly becomes a change agent in multiple industries, institutions must ensure their programs prepare students for the shifts that technology brings in the “real world”. The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University faces the challenge of educating tomorrow’s journalists in an industry undergoing a dramatic transformation – from pen and paper to video and blogging in a 24x7 news cycle. Already a leader in technology, the Cronkite School added Echo360 lecture capture to its curriculum and continuing education workshops.

Echo360 recognizes that lecture capture is a mission critical system on your campus. With that in mind, EchoSystem 2.6 has launched with a focus on expanding technical scale, providing flexible access controls and enabling the delegation of operational work. Key features of EchoSystem 2.6 include:
• Improved Scalability
• External LDAP Authentication
• Single Sign-On for EchoSystem and Blackboard Learn
• New “Scheduler” User Role
As part of Echo360’s new Release Candidate Program, universities around the world tested preview releases of EchoSystem 2.6 and their feedback was instrumental in the product’s development. The Release Candidate Program was conceived to test products within a variety of technology environments, operating systems and deployment configurations before their general release.

This June, the Echo360 Community gathered in Lansdowne, VA for the second annual Community Conference in June. Attendees learned about the upcoming release of 2.6, had the opportunity to meet with Echo360 executives and product managers in birds of a feather sessions, and heard lecture capture success stories from institutions around the globe. Then everyone took a break from lecture capture learnings to enjoy a warm summer night and try their luck at the Community Casino Night and BBQ.
